Many students are unaware of the various scholarship opportunities available in India and abroad. As a student of a premier institute in India, I usually receive email notifications about various scholarship opportunities available for students. For the benefit of my readers, I like to share the same here.

PM-YASASVI
It is a new scheme launched in India by bringing a few existing schemes under a single umbrella. The scheme is for Other Backward Class (OBC), Economically Backward Class (EBC), and Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNT/S-NT) students. Under the PM-YASASVI scheme, the following sub-schemes are there:
(i) Top Class College Education
This sub-scheme is for students at premier institutes in India. All the IIMs / IITs/ IIITs / AIIMSs/ NITs/NIFTs/ NIDs/ Indian Institutes of Hotel Management, National Law Universities, other Central Government Institutions, and reputed private institutions are eligible under the sub-scheme.
Benefits under the sub-scheme include:
- Full tuition fee and non-refundable charges (ceiling of Rs. 2.00 lakh per annum for private sector institutions and Rs. 3.72 lakhs per annum for the private sector flying clubs for Commercial Pilot Training and Type Rating Courses)
- Living expenses @Rs.3000/-per month
- Books and stationery @ Rs. 5000/- per annum
- A latest computer/laptop with a ceiling of Rs. 45000/- as one-time assistance
The scholarship, once awarded, will continue till the end of the course, subject to the satisfactory performance of the selected student. The student must satisfy the eligibility criteria for selection like family income, ranking, attendance, etc.
Note that there is a quota available for each institute under this category. So, some ranking mechanisms will be applied to select the desired number of students for the scholarship.

(ii) Top Class School Education
This sub-scheme is for students of classes 9 to 12 from top-ranking schools in India. The following are salient points:
- Income ceiling of Rs. 2.5 lakh is there
- A quota for the number of students has been fixed for each state.
- All types of schools are eligible.
- The benefit is in the form of tuition fees, hostel fees, and other charges as required by the school, subject to a maximum of Rs. 75,000/- per annum per student of class 9 and 10 and Rs. 1,25,000/- per annum per student of class 11 and 12.

(iii) Post-Matric Scholarship
As the name suggests, this sub-scheme is for post-graduate level courses. The benefit under it ranges from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 20000/- per annum. The students have to apply through https://scholarships.gov.in/. Further, more details are available on page 12 onwards in this document.
(iv) Pre-Matric Scholarship
This sub-scheme is for students in classes IX and X of government schools. The scholarship amount is Rs. 4000/- per month. There is a limit of Rs. 2,50,000/- on parents’ income for eligibility for the scheme.
The benefit ranges from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 20000/- per year depending on the type of degree or course. All students studying in the recognized institutes and following a number of criteria like parents’ income, attendance, etc., are eligible under it. Kotak Kanya Scholarship-2022
The scholarship amount is Rs. 1.5 lakh per year till the completion of professional graduation courses. The salient points of the scholarship are
- For girl students only.
- Family income to be less than Rs. 3,20,000/- per year.
- Must have scored more than 85% in class 12th.

Deadline for application is November 30, 2022. This scholarship is announced everywhere. So, keep track of it if you are going to attend first-year college next year.
Panasonic Ratti Chhatr Scholarship 2022-23
This scholarship is from Panasonic, a well-known company that announces it yearly. The eligibility criterion is
- Students getting admission into B.Tech. courses at any of the IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) in 2022-23.
- Must have cleared their Class 12 examination or are awaiting final results.
- Must have scored more than 75% marks in Class 12.
- Annual family income must not be more than INR 8,00,000 from all sources.
The benefit under the scholarship is Rs. 42,500 per year for 4 years. The application deadline is November 11, 2022. For more details and to apply for the scholarship, visit the following link
