It is to note that the page does not reflect any error or problem with your site. Then, what is the need for such a page?

The page has been designed to enable us to come up with a functioning site first before going public. As the domain is already registered and the site is running, someone may land up at your site. So, the page tells our visitors that the website development is in progress.

I will share the steps for Bluehost, which is my hosting provider. Even if you have another hosting provider, the steps will be more or less similar.

Step 1: Login to Bluehost

Login to your hosting provider account.

WordPress Maintenance Mode

There is an alternate usage of the Coming Soon page.

Sometimes our site undergoes major updates or maintenance. We may not want to let users see our uncooked stuff during that time. Further, we also don’t want our site to be down.

A smart way is to let the visitors land up on your site but show them a message for maintenance.

In that case, we can use the Coming Soon toggle switch to enable WordPress maintenance mode without a plugin. Note that to speed up our site, the use of plugins is to be reduced as much as possible.

For a custom maintenance mode page, one has to invariably use a plugin to set a custom page for maintenance.

Not sure when you wrote this page, but the process has changed. Now one must look for a “If you’re ready to launch your site”
