Do you like to remove the “A New WordPress Site Coming Soon” message on your site? Removing this message will enable you to show your published content to the outside world.
You aren’t alone on this boat. I also encountered the same problem at the beginning of this site. Soon, I found a way to resolve the issue, which I will share here for your benefit.
What is WordPress Site Coming Soon Page?
Before we look at steps to remove the WordPress site coming soon page, let’s understand the need for such a page.
It is to note that the page does not reflect any error or problem with your site. Then, what is the need for such a page?
The page has been designed to enable us to come up with a functioning site first before going public. As the domain is already registered and the site is running, someone may land up at your site. So, the page tells our visitors that the website development is in progress.
Steps to Remove WordPress Site Coming Soon Page
It is to note that the control for the Coming Soon page lies not in the WordPress admin panel but the website hosting provider account.
I will share the steps for Bluehost, which is my hosting provider. Even if you have another hosting provider, the steps will be more or less similar.
Step 1: Login to Bluehost
Login to your hosting provider account.
Step 2: Click My Sites
On the home page, click on ‘My Sites’ to see the listing of all your sites residing on the hosting account.
Step 3: Click Manage Site
Now, choose your present site and click the ‘Manage Site’ button.
Step 4: Go to Settings
Under this, click on settings to change various settings associated with your site.
Step 5: Off the WordPress Coming Soon Page
If you will scroll down the settings page, you will see a toggle switch for the Coming Soon page.
Move the switch to the OFF state to disable the Coming Soon page. Verify the change by opening your site in the browser.
If you still don’t see the change, please read the below article for resolution:
WordPress Maintenance Mode
There is an alternate usage of the Coming Soon page.
Sometimes our site undergoes major updates or maintenance. We may not want to let users see our uncooked stuff during that time. Further, we also don’t want our site to be down.
A smart way is to let the visitors land up on your site but show them a message for maintenance.
In that case, we can use the Coming Soon toggle switch to enable WordPress maintenance mode without a plugin. Note that to speed up our site, the use of plugins is to be reduced as much as possible.
For a custom maintenance mode page, one has to invariably use a plugin to set a custom page for maintenance.
